Where Do Your CT State Tax Dollars Go?

According to CT Magazine’s January 2011 issue, here’s where your money goes for the CT 2011 fiscal budget of $19.01 billion:

Government – 7% (General Government – 2.6% Regulation and Protection – 2.1% Non-functional Government – 2.3%)
Health and Hospitals – 8.9% (including Mental Health and Developmental Services)
Education – 21.1%
Corrections – 7.8% (including Dept of Children and Families)
Employee Fringe Benefits- 10.7%
Legislative – .4%
Conservation and Development – .7%
Debt Service – 11%
Human Services – 26.7% (including Medicaid – $2.84 billion nearly 20%; also includes food stamps, welfare and Husky)
Judicial – 2.9%
Transportation – 2.7%
